ABOUT THE CLUB

Polonia Adelaide Sports Club Inc. – Croydon Football Club

Croydon FC is an Australian semi-professional soccer club in Adelaide, South Australia and currently competes in the National Premier Leagues South Australia.

They played home games at the brand new Regency Park Complex in Adelaide’s inner northern suburbs. They are one of the most successful sides in South Australian soccer.

The club’s ethnic background is Polish Australian, and the club was founded as the Polonia Adelaide Sports Club on 16 June 1950 the club.  Polonia Adelaide Sports Club was built by Polish Migrants who were committed to offering sport as an avenue to build community connection and belonging.

They entered the 3rd division of the SASFA competition in 1952 and won the championship in its first year.

1993 saw the implementation of the U23 team replacing the Reserves and the removal of ethnic names from the league. Hence the teams were known as Croydon Kings.

Currently the Club has a predominance of junior players ie 230 over senior players, 76. There are 5 senior teams and 18 junior teams. In 2020 we entered 2 Senior Women’s Team in the Community Division and are currently building a young girls teams as we move forward to ensure women’s participation in sport and leadership within the club. In 2023 our Womens Div 1 side have been promoted to the WSL (Womens State League), the 2nd tier in womens football.

The club is proud of its diversity and we witness this through the many cultures we have who have made the club their own.

Although the Club commenced with a Polish base, due to growth in the neighbouring community over the past half century, particularly with an influx of people from a range of multicultural backgrounds and attraction of players and supporters from afar, based on the Club’s on field successes, our club’s members are diverse and bring richness to our club and our community.

We look forward to a bright future at our new at Regency Park, making it more accessible for our community to play and participate in our community.
